Book a consultation

Consultations at two hospitals, one in west Pune and one in PCMC. Appointments are taken by phone, and all consultations are by prior appointment.

Timings may vary with the surgical schedule, so please call ahead to confirm rather than arriving unannounced.

What to bring

• Your scan films and CDs, not only the reports. A report describes findings, but examining the images alongside your examination is what decides treatment.
• Any previous X-rays, even old ones, since they show how things have changed over time.
• A list of medicines you take, and details of diabetes, thyroid, heart or kidney conditions.
• Insurance policy details if surgery is a possibility, since pre-authorisation takes a few days and many policies have waiting periods.
• If the problem followed an accident, any documentation relating to it, because accident claims are processed differently by insurers.
• A note of what you can no longer do. That matters more than a pain score out of ten.

Second opinions

Second opinions are welcome, and there are several situations where I particularly encourage them: being told a rotator cuff tear cannot be repaired, being advised to have a meniscus trimmed without discussion of whether it could be repaired, being advised knee replacement on the basis of an X-ray alone, and an ACL reconstruction that has failed without a clear explanation.

Bring your scans and any previous operation notes, and you will get a clear answer about what is actually wrong, what is repairable, and what each option would realistically give you.

For referring doctors

Colleagues are welcome to call either hospital number directly to discuss a case. Urgent problems, particularly a suspected knee dislocation, a locked knee, an acute rotator cuff tear after a fall, or a fresh bony avulsion, are seen promptly, since the treatment window in several of those closes within weeks.
